Condensed Transcript
Dustyn introduces the ActiveTarget 2 XL Recon trolling motor mount kit and reviews included components: mount assembly (preconfigured for starboard), coiled tubing, cable routing arm, and hardware kit. Additional components from the transducer package include the arm assembly, springs, guides, and shoulder bolt.
Required tools include metric Allen keys (1.5–5 mm), flathead screwdriver, utility knife, marker or tape, and tape measure.
He demonstrates how to reconfigure the mount from starboard to port by relocating the cylinder and flipping the detent plate.
Next, determine shaft length and trim the coiled tubing accordingly. Mark and cut the tubing, soak it in warm water to increase flexibility, then feed the transducer cable through the split tubing starting 8 inches from the transducer.
Power to the Recon trolling motor is disconnected. The depth collar is adjusted and the motor deployed. Lower unit plugs are removed and retained for future use.
The mount assembly is positioned on the lower unit, and four mounting screws are started loosely before tightening evenly while positioning the tubing correctly.
The arm assembly is installed with springs and shoulder bolt, followed by attaching the ActiveTarget 2 XL transducer to the arm.
Next, the cable routing arm is installed near the motor head. The transducer cable is secured and routed through the Recon’s coiled shaft tubing, then connected to the ActiveTarget 2 module.
After reconnecting power, program the stow direction using either the Recon FreeSteer™ remote or your HDS® Pro display.
Finally, Dustyn demonstrates the three mount positions: Forward/Down, Scout Deep, and Scout Shallow.
Switching positions requires unlocking the lever, rotating the arm and transducer, and relocking into place.
